The Pinnacle Bank Arena is a multipurpose sports and entertainment facility located in the historic West Haymarket Entertainment District in downtown Lincoln, NE. The arena was part of the greater West Haymarket Redevelopment Project and is home to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s men’s and women’s basketball teams.
The arena site was an active railroad yard with three active rail lines. Over the course of construction, two of these rail lines were relocated including the main passenger service terminal for downtown Lincoln. All construction activities had to cross the remaining active railway and the scope of construction included a new pedestrian bridge that had to cross the same active rail line to a new parking area.
In addition to the new infrastructure for the arena, there was an additional $90M of work on the surrounding five city block area to bring new infrastructure, a central plant, and roadways to spur future development.
