The Golden State Warriors have spent the last four years filling the rafters at Oracle Arena with championship banners. But if Chase Center building continues on schedule, all of the flags, trophies and other hardware will be moved to the team's new home in time for the 2019-2020 season. Chase Center officials announced online last week the project had surpassed the 50 percent completion mark and remains on track for opening in fall of 2019.

For nearly a year and a half, crews have been forming the outline of the future 18,000-seat arena. A new time-lapse video, provided by EarthCam, shows 16 months of construction at the corner of Third and 16th streets condensed into 1 minute and 21 seconds.

"We've completed our excavation, deep foundation work. We've got the structure fully enrolled and started really roughing in some of the interiors," Warriors VP of Construction Peter Bryan said in a video announcing the midway point of the project. As The Chronicle reported in January, an estimated 8,000 construction moved to the team's new home in time for the 2019-2020 season. As The Chronicle reported in January, an estimated 8,000 construction workers will contribute to the construction effort. About 450 are on the job site each day. In the time-lapse, construction can be seen progressing from the earth-moving phase into steel framing and concrete work. A team of cranes — which can be seen on the skyline from nearby AT&T Park — help build out the floors of both the arena and the adjoining offices. The project hit the "topping out" mark, where construction reaches the highest point, in March.

"Because of the uniqueness of the arena, in conjunction with the parking structure and office towers, and then being surrounded by all city streets, all of that adds a bit of complexity to building the job," Trevor Delong, the project's senior superintendent, said in an another video about the early construction challenges. The Chase Center will add 100,000 square feet of retail space and 580,000 square feet of office space to the growing Mission Bay neighborhood, along with 950 parking spaces, according to the project's official website.
